Tia Marta’s Salsa

This is an extremely easy recipe and it is a staple in our family. It’s my Tia Marta’s Salsa!! This salsa has a starring role at every family function and if I had a dollar for every time someone asked me for this recipe, I would never have to work again! I guarantee once you bring this salsa to a party you will forever be assigned as the salsa maker.

I like to make this salsa at the start of every week because I put it on absolutely everything from taco salads to eggs.

Ingredients

  • 2 to 3 jalapenos
  • 1 28 oz can of whole tomatoes
  • 1/2 of a large white onion, roughly chopped
  • 5 garlic cloves, peeled
  • A handful of cilantro
  • 1 tsp of salt

Instructions

  • Add jalapenos to a small pot and cover with water. Bring to a boil over high heat and cook until jalapenos have softened, about 10 to 15 minutes.
  • While jalapenos are cooking, add tomatoes, onions, garlic, and cilantro to blender and blend until salsa is smooth.
  • Once jalapenos have softened, cut off stem and add to blender one at a time and blend. Make sure to taste the salsa after adding each jalapeno. You never know how hot the jalapenos are going to be so you want to make sure to taste the salsa before you add another one.
  • Once salsa has reached your desired heat, add salt and serve.
